Getting to know ... Madeleine Finn

Getting to know ... Madeleine Finn

Earlier this year, we welcomed Madeleine Finn as an investment executive. In this Q&A, she shares her career journey, what attracted her to WestBridge and what she does in her spare time.

How did your career bring you to private equity?

Prior to joining WestBridge, I worked as a corporate finance associate at Smith Square Partners, working predominantly on sell-side transactions. In this role, I gained hands-on experience managing deal processes and working closely with management teams, several of which were private equity–backed. I found the experience of partnering with management during the transaction process incredibly rewarding, so moving into a role centred on creating long-term strategic partnerships with ambitious management teams felt like the natural next step in my career.

What attracted you most to joining WestBridge?

From my first interactions with the team, it was immediately apparent that WestBridge fosters a highly collaborative and team-orientated environment, which really sets it apart. I was also drawn to the part of the market WestBridge operates in, the opportunity to partner with B2B businesses with primary buyout characteristics as they embark on the next phase of their growth journey was one I couldn't turn down! This entrepreneurial mindset is clearly reflected in the WestBridge ethos, making it an exciting and dynamic environment to be a part of.

What do you find most rewarding about your role at WestBridge?

What I find most rewarding is the breadth and diversity of businesses we have the opportunity to work with. Meeting ambitious, highly specialised management teams and gaining exposure to a wide range of sectors is a unique experience. This is further complemented by WestBridge’s strong emphasis on value creation, being able to partner strategically with management teams to help maximise value is particularly engaging.

Share a great piece of advice you’ve received.

The best advice I’ve received was to slow down and think before reacting, particularly under pressure. Taking the time to properly understand a situation has helped me make better decisions and build stronger working relationships.

What does life look like when you leave the office?

Outside of work, I like to keep myself busy with sport, so you’ll often find me heading to a Pilates, yoga, or cardio class. I also enjoy cooking, whether that’s trying out a new recipe at home or visiting a new restaurant in London.
