WestBridge backed Alpine Group makes second acquisition

Alpine Group, a leading provider of fire suppression and detection systems, has acquired Channel Fire, a Kent-based company that specialises in the design, installation and maintenance of fire protection measures.

The deal marks the second acquisition for Alpine since WestBridge backed a management buyout in December 2022.

It comes as the group looks to extend its special risk capability for customers operating in mission-critical and regulated environments.

Claire Owens, chief executive of Alpine Group, said:

“Channel Fire is a specialist business with a strong reputation for accredited fire protection solutions in complex environments. The company’s technical expertise, values and approach align closely with ours, and we are pleased to welcome Brett, Luke and the wider Channel Fire team into the group.”

Brett Comber, director at Channel Fire, said:

“Joining the Alpine Group is an exciting next step. This partnership allows us to continue supporting our customers as we always have, while benefiting from the scale and support of a wider group.”

Luke Huckerby, fellow director at Channel Fire, added:

“Being part of the Alpine Group strengthens our ability to deliver complex, specialist projects while maintaining the high standards and personal service Channel Fire is known for – for both our team and our customers.”

Thomas Dutton, investment director at WestBridge, added:

“This acquisition is another strong step in Alpine’s buy-and-build strategy and reinforces the group’s position as a leader in specialist fire protection. Channel Fire is a high-quality business with deep technical expertise and a strong reputation in complex, regulated environments, making it a natural fit for the group.”

“The strength of the management team and the alignment of values were key factors in our support, and we look forward to backing Alpine as it continues to scale its offering.”
